The architectural Practice was re-named to Vallis and Hall in 2023 to reflect its new structure and is led by Partners, Julian Vallis and Laurence Hall.

The Practice undertakes work in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Somerset (as far west as Exmoor). The team has experience in all aspects of work to historic buildings including churches, monuments, stately homes, farm buildings and residential properties.

The work frequently involves grade I, grade II* and grade II listed buildings, as well as some unlisted in historic settings, and the Practice has successfully implemented projects in challenging planning environments including National Parks, Conservation Areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs).

Vallis & Hall takes pride in a contemporary approach to detailing using traditional materials and has won awards for conservation and design.

The Practice has also worked on a number of grant aided projects with Historic England and The Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver conservation repairs, Heritage at Risk maintenance plans, condition surveys and urgent repairs to a variety of historic buildings across the South.

In addition, the Practice undertakes consultancy roles to help clients and architects with whole estate plans, conservation management plans, heritage statements and general historic building advice.

Jane Jones-Warner remains as a consultant and fundamental part of the team, sharing her professional experience and passion for historic buildings after more than 35 years as a conservation architect.

As well as continuing to work closely with Jane, Julian and Laurence are supported by architect Trevor Munday, architectural technologist Graeme Mollins, architectural assistant Adam Holmes and Practice PA Sally Hales. The team has a breadth of skills and abilities that complement one another and the support offered to each other enables the Practice to progress projects with design flair, enthusiasm and total joined-up thinking. The Practice draws on the strengths of each individual for different tasks. The outcomes are exciting and rewarding and as a consequence, most of their work comes from personal recommendation.

Both Julian Vallis and Jane Jones-Warner are architects accredited in building conservation.
