A grade I listed church dating back to the 12th century, located at the heart of the rural community of the village of Thakeham.
The proposals include an extensive internal re-ordering project and conservation of the historic fabric, as well as the erection of an annexe to provide facilities and additional meeting spaces. The annexe has been designed to be subservient to the church, lying low and built into the ground so that the visual unity of the buildings’ massing is maintained. The church has an expanding congregation and is keen to use the church for more events and enhance the community. This project involves a fine balance of providing useable, flexible spaces while protecting and enhancing a very significant historic building.
Works started on site in summer 2019.
